Award-winning winter, bring on spring

Bedside Light and custom headboard, Magnolia Lane

As we look forward to the last few months of the year, we’re surrounded by projects that are pushing our design boundaries. Watching them come to life during the construction process really fills our cups.

The cooler months have proven to be busy at the studio as we worked on several renovations, new build, and commercial fit-out projects. Each one has been a welcome challenge!

Alongside longer, warmer, sun-filled days, we look forward to the new opportunities Spring brings. We’re also excited to start on many new projects that have come through our door recently.

We recently attended the Palmerston North Women’s Expo and Manawatū Home and Lifestyle Show. We loved meeting new people, chatting about all things design, and sprinkling a little pink into predominantly black-and-white events!

The ADNZ Resene Architectural Design Awards for our region has been another highlight, with our Architectural Designer, Sarah, winning a Commended Award and Regional Award for her work on Misoi – a noodle restaurant that we worked tirelessly on both the design and construction of.

This project has also been named as a finalist in the Designers Institute of New Zealand's Best Awards for its effective use of colour. The Best Awards are highly regarded in the design world as they recognise excellence in the field. Designs recognised by the Best Awards can stand proudly alongside the best in the world – how cool is that!?

This stunning project is one of our feature projects in this issue and we hope you love the bold use of colour that got this project noticed.

Here at Emma Brown Design, we are a collaborative studio where every single member of our team works on all projects presented to us. While we all stick to our lane of expertise, our projects are so successful because of this collaborative approach.

Have you been considering embarking on a project of your own? Are you unsure where to start or who to trust?

As we always say – we love a chat! Call in and see us. Our door is always open.
